TELECOMMUNICATION

DEVELOPMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATION IN INDIA:

India's Telecommunication Network is the second largest in the world by number of telephone users (both fixed and mobile phone) with 1.183 billion subscribers as on 31 May 2019. It has one of the lowest call tariffs in the world enabled by mega telecom operators and hyper-competition among them. As on 31 July 2018, India has the world's second largest Internet user-base with 460.24 million broadband internet subscribers in the country. As of 31 December 2018, India had a population of 130 crore people, 121 crore mobile phones, 44.6 smartphones, 56 crore internet users and 51 per cent growth in e-commerce.Telecommunication has supported the socioeconomic development of India and has played a significant role to narrow down the rural-urban digital divide to some extent. It also  has helped to increase the transparency of governance with the introduction of E-Governance in India. In such a way this 21st century sees a great development in technologies.

MOBILE PHONES  FROM 1970'S TILL DATE

Till the 1990's only the affordable people had landline telephone connections in their homes. After that almost it has become a need to many. That was the period when education was given more importance. Children were sent to schools,  colleges and jobs in different cities. This made the necessity of phone in each house.

FIXED PHONE

Later mobile phones got in to markets and was economical too. This paved a great way to emerge phone culture in to our homes. Nowadays each member of the family has a smart phone.

Telecommunication is a boon to our human life. This technology made many things easier and also safe for us. Smart phones brought the world in our hands. Whatever Technologies be, if the usage is  limited it is really a boon. If it is used unnecessarily then it turns to be a curse to the human society.

The phoneless life was also very interesting for us. We learnt many things and remembered many things, because we din't have Google to answer in those periods. We heard stories from our grand parents, had conversations and fight with our family members, Tried to take part in parents conversations, even though not matured enough for that. We had many friends to play outdoors. We knew all the streets in our area. Went to worship places with our family. Enjoyed watching movies in cinema theaters. Searched for classes to learn arts and craft works.Copied the home works in diaries without forgetting. Each member of the family went out after giving the information about their whereabouts. Walking was not an exercise for us, since we traveled every near and there only on foot. Assumed our bi-cycles as a jet to fly. Rare to see an accident, since we concentrated on road. More over we were safe with some pros and cons.

From the date we started using smart phones, are we enjoying any one of these above pleasures? The answer would be a great "NO". We are bound to the phones in such a way we don't see the vehicle coming in front of us. Talking is through messages, playing through videos, movies in our hand sets,Medications through our own browsing, getting home works through Whats app, learn what ever we want through You tube, make friends through Face book.No greeting of guests because we are bind with phones and laptops in our rooms. Spending sleepless nights just to chat and browse. We are becoming prey to some of the dangerous Apps. Almost we forgot the real enjoyment. The great development in Telecommunication has shattered many valuable morals from us.

Since we finish all the conversations over phone, nothing is left to share when we meet a person. This daily conversations are creating more problems within the families. A small problem or fight within couples are made as big issue when shared immediately to others. Many problems are created because of over usage.Murders are increasing just to rob the costly phones. Accidents are increasing due to phone talks while driving and also crossing the roads and railway tracks.

HEALTH   EFFECTS

The effect of mobile phone radiation on human health is the subject of recent interest and study, as a result of the enormous increase in mobile phone usage throughout the world. Mobile phones use Electromagnetic Radiation in the microwave range, which some believe may be harmful to human health.

In 2011, the World Health Organisation stated that mobile phone use may possibly represent a long-term health risk, classifying mobile phone radiation as "possibly carcinogenic to humans" after a team of scientists reviewed studies on mobile phone safety. The mobile phone is in  category 2B which ranks it alongside coffee and other possibly carcinogenic substances.
Some recent studies have found an association between mobile phone use and certain kinds of brain and salivary gland tumors. Lennart Hardel and other authors of a 2009 meta-analysis of 11 studies from peer-reviewed journals concluded that cell phone usage for at least ten years  may approximately doubles the risk of being diagnosed with a brain tumor on the same ('ipsilateral') side of the head as that preferred for cell phone use.
One study of past mobile phone use cited in the report showed a 40% increased risk for Gliomas (brain cancer) in the highest category of heavy users (reported average: 30 minutes per day over a 10‐year period). This is a reversal of the study's prior position that cancer was unlikely to be caused by cellular phones or their base stations and that reviews had found no convincing evidence for other health effects. Certain countries, including France, have warned against the use of mobile phones by minors in particular, due to health risk uncertainties.
According to a survey from different doctors of hospitals, the excess use of  mobile phones leave chronic disease like: Brain tumor( 76%), Male Infertility(38%) and Ear impairment(91%). The fear of being without a mobile phone is termed as Nomophobia. A study found that About 58% of men and 47% of women suffer from this phobia. An additional 9% feel stressed when their mobile phones are off.

We come across many articles on many researches, even then we don't limit the usage. Most of the parents maintain the silence of their kids through this mobile phones. They also boast high about their child's knowledge in using mobile phones. Using smart phones at petrol stations, kitchens,  cell phone towers are dangerous due to radiations from those places. Using the mobiles while charging lead to some deaths too.

The same device when used only in necessity was a boon to us. So lets use it in a way that we don't feel it as a curse.

SCHOOL DAYS

Our school life was in 1980's and 90's. In those days the school life was so enjoyable. During our school days we used to go bit early(at least half an hour before the fist bell) to the school, so that we could play with our friends. Those who dint finish any of their home tasks, would surely come early to school and tried to copy the homework from their friends notebooks. We used to have some classes such as Arts and Crafts, Drawing, Lab, Grammar, Music, etc only once in a week. So, we need not carry the notebooks of those subjects daily to school. But we used to have great fear of those teachers, since the classes were weekly once, they were very strict to us.Because of that, if any student forgot to bring one of those notebooks, they used to run back to their house to bring the specified note. While they went, they won't go alone. They used to go with  their friends. In those days mostly we were sent to schools which were near...
