Our school life was in 1980's and 90's. In those days the school life was so enjoyable. During our school days we used to go bit early(at least half an hour before the fist bell) to the school, so that we could play with our friends. Those who dint finish any of their home tasks, would surely come early to school and tried to copy the homework from their friends notebooks.
We used to have some classes such as Arts and Crafts, Drawing, Lab, Grammar, Music, etc only once in a week. So, we need not carry the notebooks of those subjects daily to school. But we used to have great fear of those teachers, since the classes were weekly once, they were very strict to us.Because of that, if any student forgot to bring one of those notebooks, they used to run back to their house to bring the specified note. While they went, they won't go alone. They used to go with their friends.
In those days mostly we were sent to schools which were nearby to our residences. So, students those who came by school bus and other private vehicles were very less. That made it easy to run back to home to bring the forgotten things.
Most of the Teachers used to come early to school, so parents didn't bother of their children's timings. We could see the teachers having good chats with each other in their staff rooms. If at all any problem arises to the students, the teachers were there to take care at anytime inside the school campus.
Most of the children came to school on foot. So, they had friends not only from their classes, but also from their areas. We didn't have more craze on Televisions. We wanted to play outside with our friends. So we had many friends from different schools and classes. Without teaching we learnt to care and share with each other. We used to go to our friend's schools for the Annual Day and Sports Day programs which were the only great functions of the schools in those days. Also we used to exchange our cultural dresses to our needs.
In those days many schools had an array of trees in their campus. We used to have our lunch with our friends even under those trees. During holidays we used to go to our nearby friends house to play.We don't like to be indoors. When some misunderstandings and fights arise between friends, the teachers and parents tried their best to set it right.
We were taught to share our things, which made us to share our lunches too. Even after many years we can remember the special foods of our friends.
In those days teachers were very strict to the students. The students were given punishment and even beatings, but we won't complain to our parents about that. If at all we did we would get the same from our parents too. Like wise parents and teachers had understandings and played their role well, so that we were brought up with good morals.
Regarding private tuition, in those days tuition centres were not more in number and moreover students were not encouraged to go for tuition. But that was the period of emerging of tuition centres too, like increasing in private schools. If at all some students went for tuition, that too paved a way to get good friends over there.

SCHOOL LIFE AT PRESENT:
Nowadays school life is made as a stressful one for many students. According to a survey they say Indian students are more stressed than others. Most of the children go by vehicles (either private or public) to school. No matter about the distance, they don't walk to school and parents don't encourage it. They are made to step in to the school campus only on time, so they don't have time to make friends. Moreover most of the parents avoid teaching about sharing and caring. The reason is the present generation are most probably single child or maximum up to two kids.So most of the children themselves are grown up with selfish and adamant natures, since they have no sharing habits.
This single child policy makes the parent to take more care of their child, which sometimes leads to pampering them. Even the schools can't be strict in their moral policies. Moreover most of the children are forced to be indoors and engaged with any of the social media or indoor games or video games. They are not granted permission to play with their friends outside their home.
Students are sent to many other classes or forced to attend classes like swimming, dancing, singing, gymnastics, music, robotics, etc. Private tuition after school hours is made compulsory for this generation. So tuition centres are emerging in more numbers. Students get no time to play with their friends and share their thoughts with each other. Meaning of gaming is imposed on them instead of playing. Students are trained in such a way that marks are their aim and least bothered about their understanding over the subjects.
The urbanization and ultra-modern society forces the couples to work for their financial support. They don't have enough time to meet their child's moral needs.More over parents fear to leave their children under other's care, due to headlines of daily news regarding the child sexual harassment. Our society must be weeded to give a safe and pleasant environment to the children. That too is possible with a good education, which is again a circle.
Even today the old style school life is enjoyed only by most of the government school students, who are blessed in this.
As a parent let's try to understand our child's mentality and try to give importance to their thinking and creativity. So that they are brought up as a good human.
"If you want your children to get the best education possible, it is actually more important to get them assigned to a great teacher than to a great school."
MEMORIES OF THOSE DAYS:
WHOM ARE THESE SOUL MATES,
GATHERED AS A BUSY BEE,
FELT AS THOUGH BACK IN SCHOOL,

MY MEMORIES:
Today's trend of schools is to advertise that they teach advanced education for their students. But it doesn't make a great difference in pupil's society.
During our school days we were taught many ideologies and theories apart from our syllabus. One of our English masters rounds the world in words just based on the topic of the lesson before entering in it. Sometimes we fear that we may be lagging in our syllabus compared to other sections, but he taught us indirectly how to present in our own words without memorizing. Checking methods were taught with utmost care rather than problem solving, which reduced our mistakes in Mathematics. Making soap in an empty match box, testing of our blood group, etc made Science as an interesting one. Computer basics was something unimaginable on those days made us proud. The importance of our Tamil language was sowed in us through many competitions, which created an interest in Social too. These were taught by the teachers on their own interests.
The voting system was introduced to us by our school Chairman through which we elected the name of the great African leader Nelson Mandela for our School Square. Each month was observed in an educative way and competitions would be conducted based on it. For example, a month for wild life, planting trees, saving rain water, equal education, against violence, help the needy, etc. In these ways we were taught good morals and the education was an interesting one which moulded us in to good humans.
After 25 years we had a gathering of our school friends in 2019. In that one of the boys(ya, still we are boys and girls in our thoughts even though we are now in our 40's) shared a humorous memory with us.

During our school days our P.T sir used to check our uniforms as whether we were wearing shoes and socks, school badges, etc. This would be done when we return to our class rooms after the assembly. So, what those boys did, if any of them forgot to wear the school badge( which was a great offence for us to be fined), the one who reaches the first or second floors first, would drop his badge from there, so that the boy without badge would wear it till he reached his class and also escaped from the beatings and fine from our very strict P.T master.
Like these we have many things which are so precious in our thoughts to be remembered and also have a longing for those days.

MEMORIES OF THOSE DAYS:
WHAT A DAYS ARE THOSE,
STAYS IN HEART SO CLOSE.
WHEREVER IN THIS WORLD;
AS MANY FRIENDS WE EARNED,
LONG STAYS THOSE GUYS,
WITHOUT ANY COMPROMISE.
WHOM ARE THESE SOUL MATES,
NONE OTHER THAN MY SCHOOLMATES.
GATHERED AS A BUSY BEE,
ON OUR SILVER JUBILEE.
FELT AS THOUGH BACK IN SCHOOL,
BESIDES OUR BUSY SCHEDULE.
I PRAY THE GOD SUPREME;

Beautiful..
