   Although we entered the Millennium, from the dawn of the civilization till this millennium, the Indian women continues to be oppressed and ill treated. The gender based violence continues till date in every nook and corner of Indian society.                     Violence against women occurs through out the life cycle from pre-birth, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood to senescence. According to the National Crime Record Bureau, in India there is, one dowry death in every 78 hrs, one sexual harassment every 59 min, one rape every 34 min, one act of torture every 12 minutes.                   Since caste system is prevailing in India,  mostly lower caste women are tortured by the other caste people.
